Youth ministry is exciting. It exists to help shepherd the hearts of our youth by teaching/preaching truth and knowledge of God through the Word and personal example. It gives teens regular opportunities to practically apply the truth and knowledge of God, with an overarching urgency of the imminent coming of Christ. Without question youth ministry is exciting!
During those formative years I began to get very involved in my youth group. I was blessed during my teen years to be surrounded by other guys who were also interested in ministry. It was not uncommon for the teenage guys in the youth group to be talking about the sermons they were preparing. Looking back I can now count 5 other guys who I went to high school with that are now in full time ministry. One of those guys is my good friend Mark Allamon who is the youth pastor at Burge Terrace Baptist Church just down the road from us.
What's been going on?
It was announced that we were coming to Crosspointe way back in May. It's September now and we are finally getting started. While it sure seems like it has taken a while we are finally here.
It's been a busy summer for both of us. Rachel went on a missions trip to Singapore and Malyasia. During that time she was busy teaching, singing, and working with the kids in those countries. She, along with her team, ministered for 5 weeks to the people in Asia.
My summer took me to Texas, Pennsylvania, Ohio, Indiana, and Virginia as I continued my itinerant preaching ministry. At the beginning of the summer I finished off the last conference I would be at with Patch the Pirate. It was so much fun to serve with him during this semester.
After that I hit the road as I preached at 5 different junior camps across the country. The first camp I preached at was in Houston, Texas. I'm not sure I was prepared for all that heat but God was prepared to do a great work that week. After Texas I traveled to Virginia and then on to Pennsylvania before finishing four straight weeks of junior camps in Indiana. During that time more than 40 kids made professions of faith and many more have made other decisions. I am so thankful for the power of God's Word. It was a joy to see God at work.
Wedding & Honeymoon
We went to Kauai, HI for our honeymoon where we spent 8 days in paradise! It was kind of hard to leave such a beautiful island but we were also excited to get back to Indy.
Ready or Not Here We Come ...
So it's officially official now! After months of planning and preparation we are married and have moved to Indy. Over the next few weeks we look forward to meeting every one of you. Over the next few months we will hopefully learn all of your names :). As we look back it's so neat to see God's clear hand of direction guiding us to Crosspointe.
