The Heart Beat of Our Ministry

The Crosspointe Youth is an avenue of outreach and ministry to the youth in the Indianapolis community. In Acts 16:5, the Apostle Paul presents a worthy aim for such a metropolitan ministry when he reports of the status of Derbe and Lystra, “And so were the churches established in the faith, and increased in number daily.” It is this two-fold pattern, of discipleship and evangelism that we strive to emulate through our youth ministry. The heart-beat of our youth group is discipleship and evangelism. Paul describes discipleship as being “established in the faith” in Acts 16:5. Through the lessons and activities, the young believers who come to our youth group will be exposed to life-giving and life-changing truth of God’s Word which is the essence of a believer’s sanctification.

Evangelism is the second heartbeat of our ministry. We seek to spread the Gospel in our community (Acts 1:8; II Timothy 4:5; Matthew 28:19-20). Each week an emphasis is given to the teens about witnessing and bringing visitors to church. We strive to prepare our young disciples to become disciple-makers and to adequately be able to present the Gospel that the church may be, as Paul reports, "increased in number daily" for the glory of God.

Our Purpose for Every Teen

To be a broken vessel that God can use to carry out His purpose of redeeming and restoring fallen people to the likeness of His Son to the praise of His glory.

Our Primary Focus

Ultimately, the youth group is not about teens. The youth group is about Jesus Christ. We seek to provide teens an avenue in which they can make life changing decisions from an encounter with the Savior.

Our Core Values

Love for God and obedience to His Word.
Love for the church and faithfulness to its work.
Love for others and enthusiasm in ministry.

Our Partnership Philosophy

We believe that it is primarily the mission of the parents to train and teach their teenagers about God and His Word. The family has been ordained by God to be the place where all ages of adolescence, including teenagers, are to be taught about God and His Word (Deut. 6:1-9; Prov. 22:6; Luke 2:51-52). Our mission then is not to replace the family but to partner with it.

The foundation of our ministry is seen in two Biblical concepts:
  1. Teenagers are the responsibility of their parents (Deut. 6:6-9;11:18-19; Eph. 6:4)
  2. The mission of the church is to make disciples (Matt. 28:19)

Our ministry is thus a partnership ministry and not a replacement ministry. We partner with parents as we together seek to make disciples. The "Great Commission" is our guide as we seek to accomplish this two-fold mission. We believe that the church can help in the training and teaching of teenagers. Just as God has ordained the family for a purpose God has also ordained the church to be "the house of God, which is the church of the living God, the pillar and ground of the truth." As a ministry of the church we seek to ground teenagers and by so doing help them grow spiritually.

Our Mission Statement

We seek to impact teenagers so that they will mature being saved, dedicated, soul conscience believers.

Our Vision

Grounded firmly in the mission statement we strive to cooperate with the Holy Spirit in pursuing a two-part vision for our youth ministry.

Vision #1

Vision #2

We strive to foster an environment in which teenagers are exposed to the good news of the Gospel. We believe that "faith comes by hearing and hearing by the Word of God (Romans 10:17) thus our preaching is Scripture and Savior saturated. We further strive to have leaders that walk the walk and not just talk the talk. Teenagers don't care how much you know until they know how much you care.
We strive to traine, equip, and release the teenagers for ministry both now and in the future. Our desire is to train spiritual, sacrificial, others-focused leaders in the church. We want the product of our youth group to be the leaders in tomorrow's church. Thusly, we view every single member of our youth group as an important part of the body of Christ.
Our youth group seeks to be the training ground for the spiritual growth of every teenager within our reach.

Youth ministry is a lot like a marathon. Extensive training is expected for success, the process can be long and grueling, but the reward can be exorbitantly greater than anything imagined. Crosspointe youth is an intentional, focused ministry of Crosspointe Baptist Church. As a part of the body of Christ it should be evaluated with the same care and concern we evaluate the local church itself.
